Here’s the scenario: you’ve been driving through the parking
garage for twenty minutes now just looking for a spot. Any spot! You swear
you’ve gone down this aisle at least ten times now. Then you spot it: at the
very end there is a blank spot between two cars. You speed down there
annnnd…there’s (insert: motorcycle/prius/smart car) tucked back there. You
scream in frustration. Guess who doesn’t feel that same anger? Australians. Because,
in their parking garages each spot has a light above it, either green or red.
If the light is red, the spot is occupied. And if it’s green, it’s open. On top
of that, at the end of each row, there is a sign telling you how many green
spots are there in that row. Therefore, you don’t waste time going down a full
row. How brilliant is that?!
Now,
on the other hand, I’ve discovered that we have something in America that is
apparently a hot commodity over here: wifi. It is so bizarre to me to not just
be able to turn on my computer and instantly connect to the internet. Even the
schools have limited wifi and rely mainly on actual desktops. It really makes
you appreciate what you have and even appreciate being able to disconnect a
little while every now and then. (Of course this is also why these posts are
coming at random).
